In the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic, I had to get away after months of being locked in the house. I wore my N-95 mask, gloves, and kept my distance, and enjoyed my trip safely! Everywhere I went, there was sanitizer and people wore masks. I enjoyed my time at Secrets Puerto Los Cabos, and all-adult, all-inclusive resort. All meals and drinks were included, minibar and room service were included, and I had an amazing time in the jacuzzi on my balcony! I got to swim with the dolphins, and ride ATVs. Great way to unwind from the pandemic!
Spring Break 2018, I journeyed to Egypt. I was able to visit the Pyramids of Giza, one of the 7 Wonders of the World, I took a dinner cruise on the Nile River, visited a mosque, and the Citadel in Alexandria! Being on the Mediterranean Sea was the best! I went shopping at Khan el-Khalili, miles upon miles of shopping! I also went to see Black Panther in 4D! It was amazing! People have asked me if it was safe. I felt completely safe everywhere I went. Going to the mall, there were police officers who checked the cars and the trunks. Going to the movies in the shopping mall, there were police officers checking our things and they x-rayed our bags! That made me feel so safe. Egypt is a beautiful country with beautiful people, great food, and so much history!
Not to be stopped by the Covid-19 Pandemic, I took my annual birthday trip out of the country, and this year I chose Jamaica! I had never been, and I am certain I will be back! The first part of my stay was at Zoetry, a wellness resort in the AM Resorts family! It was a small, intimate, all-inclusive resort. We did yoga, tai-chi. We had great food and great music! With such a small resort, the General Manager came and introduced herself and made sure that everything was going well with our stay! We went snorkeling, kayaking, and relaxed on the beach with drinks daily! The last few days of my stay, I went to Secrets Wild Orchid, adult-only, all-inclusive resort. It was much larger and had more activities. It was different, but they were both amazing! Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere! And the beaches were absolutely gorgeous!
I took a trip to Costa Rica, and took a day trip to Nicaragua! It was absolutely amazing! We drove through the country and stopped to have a traditional Nicaraguan breakfast by Lake Nicaragua, which the locals call Cocibolca. From there, we went to another spot overlooking Lake Nicaragua, and there we did some shopping! The prices were amazing! I purchased a baseball jersey for my grandson for only $6! I also got a couple bottles of Flor de Caña rum, which is a product of Nicaragua. We went on to Masaya, an active volcano! After that, we had lunch at a really nice restaurant in the oldest city in Nicaragua, Grenada. We took a horse and carriage ride through the city to a cigar factory and a chocolate factory, learning some insider skills! We ended our time by taking a boat ride around several islands around Nicaragua, and then we headed back to Costa Rica!
I had the pleasure of visiting Cuba during summer of 2017! I booked my trip just before the law was changed! I rented a car and drove around Havana and surrounding areas. I visited Viñales Valley Farm and took a 4 hour horseback tour for $20! They taught me how they make cigars, from seed to cigar! We stopped at another location where they made rum and coffee beans. They juiced sugar canes for me the old school way, and gave me some samples. The biggest win was getting to practice my Spanish! Driving around the city, I saw many monuments around Cuba of José Martí and Che Guevara! I went shopping downtown Havana, and visited a museum. The people were the nicest, the views were the best, and I had a great time!
I had the pleasure of visiting Barbados as one of the stops on a 14-Day Caribbean Cruise on the Caribbean Princess in November 2019. We went by the house that Rihanna grew up in. We drove around the country with a master tour guide, Tariq (in one of the pictures with me). We went by Sandy Lane, the resort where Tiger Woods got married. Oprah used to own property there, and David Hasselhoff still does! All of the pictures are the original pictures, and none of them have been edited, so that bright blue water and those pure white sands are exactly as they are in person! You need to see and feel those gentle warm waters for yourself!
Imagine standing on the black sand beaches with gentle waves breaking around you, with the wind gently blowing in your hair on the French side of the Caribbean island of Martinique! I got to experience just that in November 2019 while on a 14-Day Caribbean cruise on the Caribbean Princess. After leaving the beautiful beaches, we went to a rum factory where we got to sample several flavors of rum! The architecture of the churches was exquisite. The waterfalls and other scenic views were amazing! We only toured 1/2 the island, and that was absolutely gorgeous! You need to see it for yourself!
